Admissions Policy 2022/23 Consultation

ADMISSIONS POLICY 2022-23 CONSULTATION ARRANGEMENTS

Why is the school consulting on its Admissions Policy 2022/23 and what does this mean?

All schools are required to consult, periodically, on Admissions arrangements. St Claudine’s is currently consulting on Admissions arrangements for 2022-23 and seeks stakeholder views regarding our proposed Admissions Policy.

We are consulting on arrangements as part of our statutory duty to consult on Admissions arrangements every seven years.  No changes other than those necessary to comply with the Admissions Code 2021 are being made.

This consultation process allows any concerns regarding Admissions arrangements to be raised. For all schools, Admissions consultations take place for at least six weeks between 1st October and 31st January each year.  At the end of the consultation, a final decision regarding admissions arrangements are made by the Governing Body – following which, the arrangements are considered as 'determined'.  We will notify you once the final policy has been approved and arrangements determined.

How does this affect my child and what do I need to do?

The proposed changes to the Admissions arrangements will not affect children currently at the school or your child(ren)’s place at the school. If you do not have any comments that you would like our Governing Body to consider, you do not need to respond.

How will the school ensure that it has consulted all stakeholders?

The law requires us to consult with stakeholders when making changes to our Admissions arrangements. The law also requires us to consult on Admissions Arrangements, even when there have been no changes, every seven years.

To fulfil this requirement, we will undertake the following as part of our consultation:

  • Publishing a copy of our full proposed Admissions Arrangements (set out in our Admissions Policy 2022/23) on our school website and posting this consultation on our social media channels.
  • Sending the proposed Admissions Policy 2022/23 to stakeholders and inviting them to comment. Stakeholders include parents of children at our school, local schools in Brent, Brent Local Authority and neighbouring Local Authorities, and our religious body - the Diocese of Westminster.

What kind of changes are being proposed?

There are no substantial changes to existing admissions arrangements – we are consulting on arrangements as part of our statutory duty to consult every seven years. Our proposed Admissions Policy 2022/23 has been updated to incorporate changes to the Admissions Code 2021 which were made by the DfE. This ensures that our school admissions practices remain compliant with current legislation.

What should I do if I would like to share my views regarding the proposed Admissions Arrangements?

This consultation is being co-ordinated by The Education Advisory Service.  For any questions, or to make a response, please email Deepti Bal at deepti@educationadvisoryservice.org no later than 17th January 2022.

All comments will be reviewed by our Governing Body in Spring Term.  The final Admissions Policy, including Admissions Arrangements, will be available on the school’s website following Governing Body approval.
